CLEAR COVERAGE
Understand your manufacturer warranty
The K4000, L250, L700 and K800 submittal packages include a Westlake Royal Windows warranty labeled for Multi-Family Construction Projects. Although its heading says “Lifetime Limited Warranty,” its coverage section states the following specific periods for the original purchaser/developer:
- Frame material: 10 years against specified blistering, corrosion, flaking or rot under normal use.
- Hardware: 1 year against defects in design, materials and workmanship.
- Insulated glass: 10 years for specified defects causing visual obstruction from film, moisture or dust between interior glass surfaces. Specialty glass has a stated 10-year period for such defects.
The manufacturer decides whether to repair or replace an approved defective component. The stated remedy is limited to the original purchase value. Removal and reinstallation costs are generally excluded; the document describes a first-year claim exception and also contains exclusions affecting installation costs. Review the complete terms and obtain written confirmation of any labor coverage.
Coverage limits and project confirmation
Exclusions include installation-related damage, misuse, specified environmental conditions, normal weathering and ordinary surface condensation. Coverage for your project, ownership type, exact product and configuration must be confirmed before ordering. These supplied multi-family terms are not a promise of lifetime coverage for a single-family home. The Krestmark 250 brochure contains no warranty terms, so its coverage remains to be confirmed.
Any BAQ Services installation workmanship warranty will be stated separately in the written proposal. Manufacturer product coverage and installation workmanship coverage have separate terms.
